Love is such a powerful force. It is the perfect offensive and defensive strategy and there is not one better. Love covers over a multitude of sins (1st Peter 4:8) and is patient and kind (1st Corinthians 13:4). It keeps no record of being wronged (1st Corinthians 13:5), it never gives up, and it never fails (1st Corinthians 13:7). Meditate on the last statement a little. Love never fails.
Love wins every battle it enters, so the next time you find yourself facing one – take love with you. So often we go to war (figuratively speaking) equipped with judgment, criticism, hate, and a list of the target enemy’s dirt. The result is always an epic fail. Battles of the like go on for what seems like forever, make matters worse, and every person involved limps away beat-up.
But love. Love completely disarms the enemy. It is the force behind the soft answer that turns away wrath (Proverbs 15:1), the heart that turns the other cheek (Matthew 5:39), and the mind that overlooks an offense (Proverbs 17:9). Love overcomes evil with good (Romans 12:21), and it never fails to do so. Remember that.
No matter the battle, no matter the foe, always make love your weapon of choice. It is the only weapon that honors God and your neighbor, and it is the only one that will honorably deliver you. Love never fails.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails. (1st Corinthians 13:4-8)
