Lately, God has shown me how every person is awesome in his/her on way. I have watched, listened, and learned from those around me in silence the past few weeks and it’s been an amazing experience. I am reminded not to consider a person useless, be it generally or personally, or bland based on appearance. There is much more to each of us than what meets the eye. No two of us are alike. We each have our own identity and our personal design was an intentional act of God. He put great thought into knitting us together in our mothers’ wombs (Psalm 139:13) and we are all beautiful. All awesome. All a representation of Father God in some way, even if we don’t realize it.
You and I each have much to learn from each other, as well as much to teach. It’s important that we realize that and do something about it. A good start is to take sincere interest in the people around us – not simply what they do for a living or what they can do for us – but who they are. Few of us celebrate the people in our life simply for who they are. We’re often too busy envying, judging, or feeding into some lie about them. And that is, if we are not busy seeking to get or gain something from them. Let’s agree to do better?
Let’s make silencing every voice contrary to love a regular practice and really get to know the people around us. We are sure to learn many good things in doing so, but certainly a lesson in love and what it really means to love our neighbor as we do ourselves (Matthew 22:39), and what it means to be loved by our heavenly Father.
