Don’t ever underestimate the gifts/talents that God has given you. Moreover, do not allow others to decide their value.
Unfortunately, there are people in this world who will use your talents to benefit their own, while at the same time not valuing or appreciating their worth. They get richer (and not always with money) while you get poorer.
It is usually the people that have a servant’s heart that fall victims to scenarios of the like. If you are one of the servant-hearted people, know that as a child of God you are called to serve others, but you were never meant to be a doormat. So make it your business to not only know what your gifts are, but to also know their God given value. And, have confidence in the fact that God himself has entrusted them to you. He believes in you.
If in a current situation your gifts are unappreciated, don’t lose hope. You are gifted and valuable and that is not dependent upon how well others treat you, but simply because God has said so. Continue to put your best foot forward where you are, and seek God for the place and people that will not only appreciate your gifts, but will value them for what they are worth. That place and those people do exist, so don’t grow weary or complacent where you are believing they do not. Trust God.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10)
A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. (Proverbs 18:16)
